Atlanta Commentates on Black Parents and White Adopters

Image
**SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST TWO EPISODES OF ATLANTA SEASON 3!** So Donald Glover's Atlanta is back and the first two episodes released a little while ago and now I have the time to talk about it. I was up in the middle of the night that week when I remembered that the third season of Atlanta started already. I went to Hulu and started the first episode. In the opening sequence we see two men fishing in a lake at night. One is black, the other is white. They laugh and talk and then the black fisherman mentions how people end up missing  at this lake. The white fisherman mentions how this lake used to be a town occupied by black people and it was flooded by the mayor to create this lake. The scene becomes massively eerie as the area becomes darker when the fisherman looks away. His voice trails off and the audio becomes muffled and when he finally turns around he is missing eyes and the black fisherman is drug underwater by black hands. I was terribly uncomfortable when I first...

Everything Everywhere All at Once Review

Image
Everything Everywhere All at Once is a different film. It's unique. In fact, this might be the most unique film my eyes and ears ever witnessed.  Last Tuesday I went to the mall to get away from the confines of my home and to buy a pair of jeans. I stopped momentarily in a Macy's and sat my bag down when I saw a mirror. I just checked myself out in the mirror and fixed myself and then went over to a Starbucks to my surprise was in the Macy's. I talked to the baristas and speculated on my order when two men approached me and told me to remove the perfume in my bag. Neither of these men were in any kind of uniform. One of the men said you can either go to jail today or take out the perfume. I told them I didn't have anything and the man said "okay," and then the two of them left and got on their phones. The whole situation made me uncomfortable and after I got my lemonade loaf from Starbucks I immediately headed out the mall. No police to meet me anywhere. I ...

Thor Love & Thunder Trailer Finally Releases!

Image
Taken everyone by surprise this morning, Marvel Entertainment dropped the Thor: Love and Thunder teaser trailer. Fans of the MCU have been anticipating this movie for years now and speculating when the trailer would drop as this has been the longest the MCU has gone without a trailer for one of their largest films. Well today we finally got it and it looks amazing! Our first look of Thor is in a trucker outfit as he works out with the chains attached to the corpse of a giant monster. As seen at the end of Avengers: End Game Thor Odinson is still with the Guardians of the Galaxy. As he engages in battle with the team Thor narrates about how he feels lost and doesn't want to be a superhero anymore. We get a montage of various locations such as few planets, Mount Olympus and Zeus's arm holding a lightning bolt, and Valkyrie as the ruler of New Asgard on Earth. The imagery and colors are as vibrant as they were in Thor: Ragnarok. This teaser trailer ends off with a little joke ...

Kingdom Hearts IV Announced!

Image
So early this morning Square Enix and Disney had the 20th anniversary Kingdom Hearts event and showed off a couple of mobile titles, but also a stinger of a surprise announcement with  Kingdom Hearts IV ! I really wasn't expecting this. Square Enix has a history of bringing disappointment for these kind of events. At most I was expecting some mobile titles and some merchandise. We did get mobile games, but an announcement and footage of the next mainline game I was not expecting. Kingdom Hearts III came out in 2019 with an amazing five million units sold in its first week so when IV eventually comes out expect it to do similar numbers. Speaking of release, the trailer gave no release date, but given that it took seven years for Kingdom Hearts III to come out after its first reveal and six years after Final Fantasy VII Remake's don't expect this game next year or anytime soon. This reveal trailer showed Sora's new design. His outfit looks similar to the KH III outfi...

The Impractical Fashion of JRPGs

Image
One of my first articles in this blog talked about Persona 5 and the fashion design in that game. Well today, I would like to put emphasis on the fashion in JRPGs as a whole. JRPGs are my favorite genre of video games and their character designs are very Japanese and have a reputation for being absurd. Most JRPGs tend to go for the fantastical in their character designs with spiky hair, unnatural hair colors, and sometimes supernatural elements. The part most will notice first however, is their clothes. JRPGs or well actually, video games in general have a lot of impractical clothing and it's just a part of the medium now. While things have improved over the years this impracticality is still a part of these Japanese bred role playing games. As a huge Square Enix fan the first thing that comes to mind is Tetsuya Nomura. Nomura has been a character designer for the Final Fantasy games since the seventh entry and he has a couple of particular signatures in his character design. No...
