  Cosmic Star Heroine  It's been a long time coming but I've finally played Cosmic Star Heroine . I was around for this game before it released and even got to talk to one of the developers on ResetEra back in 2017. Cosmic Star Heroine is developed by Zeboyd Games. This indie JRPG pits you in the role of Alyssa, a space secret agent as she uncovers that her agency has created an unethical mind control device. Cosmic Star Heroine is inspired by the SNES/Sega era of JRPGs like Chrono Trigger, Phantasy Star IV, and Lunar: Eternal Blue. For the genre this is a relatively short game. I ran over just 14 and a half hours in my playthrough, but it might just be me and where I am currently but it felt like a full game length like a Final Fantasy and it took me about three weeks to finish it just like a FF.   Cosmic Star Heroine is also fast paced in correspondence to its length. Backrooms Review

      Backrooms What a creative movie. I cannot believe that this was constructed by a 20 year old visionary. You can see talent all through this and as someone who has almost no knowledge of the creepypasta I was in no way lost and found myself thoroughly immersed in the story. There is no way I can conceive that no one could not like this! The psychological look at a man downtrodden by his own behaviors, actions, and guilt and a woman who found her way studying the minds of others after being raised by a parent with a fractured mind and all of this being reflected into an infinite liminal space that sets these two together. The cinematography alone is amazing.    Chiwetel Ejiofor puts out an amazing performance! The atmosphere, the way it conveys discomfort, familiarity, and creepiness is astonishing. Most horror movies use darkness and high contrast to make scenes feel creepy and it was refreshing to see something that is mostly bright and well lit that still...

My First Momocon Experience

  Momocon  Momocon has been one of my most anticipated geek conventions in the world and I finally made the trip this year. For those that don't know Momocon is located in Atlanta, Georgia. It was originally held at a college campus, but now is known for its venue at the Georgia World Congress Center. The Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) is a huge convention center. If I would compare it to something I would compare it to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center located in Washington D.C. where Otakon is held every year, but I think that the GWCC is bigger. The GWCC is massive! It's made up of two buildings marked as Buildings A and B which both have five floors, but I think I even saw a sign past the cafe that said Building C, but if there was one Momocon didn't use it. In addition Momocon also uses the Omni Hotel which is the host hotel for the convention. The con's panels were held on the top floors of the GWCC with the bottom floors reserved for the Vendor...

Eve's Bayou Review

    EVE'S BAYOU I think this is the first time I watched this film in its entirety because there was only one scene in this movie that I remembered that I'll get to later. Majority of my film history is from the 90s as you can see on my page and this is definitely one of the most uniquely feeling from this decade. It's past midnight on May 27 as I write this and I'm struggling to put this into words for this review. The vibe of Eve's Bayou is wholesome, sad, unsettling, and something else I can't quite put into words. This is a very human story about a young girl who struggles with the affection she has for her father and her sister. This is told through the eyes of titular character Eve and one night at a dinner party she falls asleep and witnesses her father having sex with another woman. I Love Boosters Review

      I Love Boosters  I was a huge fan of Boots Riley's last film Sorry to Bother You which released all the way back in 2018 surprisingly enough so when I got word of his next film coming out I knew I had to see it. I caught this at an advance screening at an Alamo theater which included a Q&A livestream at the end.  Like Sorry to Bother You , I Love Boosters is a film that critiques capitalism. While Sorry to Bother You focused on how it can change the individual, I Love Boosters comments on how it affects the whole. I Love Boosters is a very trippy film. This is a film I have to see at least two more times because I was quite confused in the beginning I feel funny comparing to Sorry to Bother You so much but this film's metaphors are less straight forward compared Sorry to Bother You . Tokyo Pop Film Review

   Tokyo Pop  I've been meaning to watch Tokyo Pop for a while now. I actually came across this from a Tumblr post. This tumblr post wasn't anything all that special; it just featured the images of this movie's posters, but the title and the colors from those posters drew me in. I liked the aesthetic of it and the synopsis was intriguing enough so I added it to my watchlist and it became the first film on my Letterboxd watchlist. I finally watched it and I liked it just as I hoped. This film as the description says on IMDB is about an American rock singer who goes to Japan initially to meet up with a friend but she ends up meeting a Japanese singer in a rock band and their lives intertwine. It is an interesting film that leaves you feeling warm at the end. I do miss just how visually pleasing movies used to look. Dating as a Nerd and Finding Friends

 This is a very personal blog entry for me. I know the title alone will illicit certain reactions and assumptions. This is not a internet rant about a man feeling entitled to women or blaming the black community for not being accepted. This is my personal experience and I feel there's a lot of people that are dismissive about nerds' feelings on this subject. At my ripe old age I have never dated before and haven't had any friends since I graduated college back in 2014. In my childhood finding friends was fine, but it was in my high school years when it was really hard. I had only one real friend in those years and he had dropped out at one point so I was alone most of the time. There were some other people I did speak to but since I can't remember their names I don't think I should call them friends. Entering community college I was pretty much alone there.
