Kingdom Hearts IV Announced!

So early this morning Square Enix and Disney had the 20th anniversary Kingdom Hearts event and showed off a couple of mobile titles, but also a stinger of a surprise announcement with Kingdom Hearts IV! I really wasn't expecting this. Square Enix has a history of bringing disappointment for these kind of events. At most I was expecting some mobile titles and some merchandise. We did get mobile games, but an announcement and footage of the next mainline game I was not expecting.



Kingdom Hearts III came out in 2019 with an amazing five million units sold in its first week so when IV eventually comes out expect it to do similar numbers. Speaking of release, the trailer gave no release date, but given that it took seven years for Kingdom Hearts III to come out after its first reveal and six years after Final Fantasy VII Remake's don't expect this game next year or anytime soon. This reveal trailer showed Sora's new design. His outfit looks similar to the KH III outfit with a black and red design. He awakes in what looks like a hotel room and he's greeted by a mysterious woman in white who informs Sora that he's been asleep for seven days in a world called Quadratum that looks very much looks like the real world. A black hole emerges in what looks like the middle of Tokyo and transforms into a giant heartless. Sora goes into the city to battle the monster with full spectacle and destruction around him. From the little gameplay footage we received the combat looks nearly identical to KHIII's. There is something new here however. For a brief second you can see Sora zipping himself to a couple of platforms with an energy grappling hook. Maybe this is a new mechanic or just a new animation for the flow motion from III. We also see some Organization XIII members on a rooftop.

We also get a tease at the end with Donald and Goofy speaking in Japanese. This was a nice surprise and I'm looking forward to the next chapter in Kingdom Hearts. Kingdom Hearts III marked the end of the Xehanort saga so we'll finally have a new villain in the next game. I've personally only being playing Kingdom Hearts for the gameplay, Final Fantasy, and Disney nostalgia since II so where the story ends up going doesn't matter to me.     The Persona games have some surprisingly stylish outfits in a genre that's known for terrible outfits. In this entry I want to explore the inspirations in the clothing of characters in the Persona series and how it relates to their character. I never got the chance to finish Persona 3 and after looking for a while I can't quite tell if Persona 3's cast has casual outfits like in 4 and 5 and also a part of me wants to wait until I actually get to properly play 3 so I'll pass on discussing Persona 3, but in Persona 4 Arena the cast gets all new outfits. They are definitely more costumes than traditional clothes for the most part: Yukiko has a superhero look going on with her, which after playing Persona 5 makes me think maybe in this universe she's an actor for that Featherman TV show and is the pink ranger. 4C Pixels: A Look at Black Hair in Video Games

  I've been playing video games for a very very long time now and one of the things that has been bugging me in my adulthood is the lack of afro-centric hairstyles in video games. I play a lot of RPGs and these games often have character creation and customization. As a creative I love any game that gives me freedom to express myself. I love designing the look and the playstyle of my characters. It's just frustrating that my options are so limited when it comes to making a character that looks black and the most egregious part is the lack of hair options. If the title does possess any black hairstyles it's going to be a Party City looking-ass afro, cornrows with no hangtime, and maybe some locs. I would count the low cut, but it's really just a buzz cut. The Grand Theft Auto games is one of the few games I recall that had a good amount, specifically San Andreas since most of Franklin's options in V were just variations of fades and Cesars, but it really shouldn'

Catwoman: Hunted Review

       DC in the animated realm is just about as good as it is in its original medium of comics. The new Batman film starring Robert Pattison is coming out in less than a month and we have one other Batman related film to watch before then, Catwoman: Hunted . Catwoman: Hunted stars Elizabeth Gillies, Stephanie Beatriz, Lauren Cohan, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste. This film takes a new animation direction with anime veteran Shinsuske Terasawa at the helm. This isn't the first time a DC property has gotten the anime treatment.  In 2009 Gotham Knights came out and featured anime styles in the film and I think that is the most recent in memory. The anime influence is apparent as soon as the opening credits with music and visuals reminiscent of the lauded Cowboy Bebop which Terasawa had a hand in making. The animation in Hunted is also pretty cool. It does a great job at instilling motion and emotion. The fight scene at the beginning of the film and at the end are particularly cool. One t
