Tekken 8 Tease and Juri and Kimberly Revealed for Street Fighter 6
So EVO was this past weekend and along with the intense competition came some news for upcoming fighting games. After the Tekken 7 grand finals Harada came on stage to present a new trailer. This trailer showed off clips of Kazuya from the original Tekken all the way to Tekken 7, but at the end of this teaser trailer there was a brief clip of a modern Kazuya with an entirely new model looking smug at the camera. There is no official confirmation as Harada didn't say anything, but the excitement from the crowd indicated this is a lead to the reveal of a new Tekken. Tekken 8 may very well be on the way.
That's not all we got Sunday night as Capcom also came with some important news after the Street Fighter V grand finals. The commentator voices for Street Fighter 6 came on stage and presented new footage. We were introduced to Kimberly and Juri in Street Fighter 6. Kimberly was leaked via images a couple months ago, but this is the first official footage the fanbase has received. Kimberly sports an athletic design with a fun personality and a pension for graffiti. As far as her gameplay goes she resembles a lot of Guy from Final Fight and the Street Fighter Alpha games, but has some moves of her own to make her distinguishable. She has a command run, Izuna drop, and tornado kick like Guy, but she also has a projectile, a flip, and what looks like a teleport. She is definitely a rush down character and excites me that she looks as fun to play with as her character design. I've been long waiting for another Black female character in Street Fighter as I never liked Elena and still not sure if Menat is meant to be black despite being from Egypt. There is no ambiguity with Kimberly. That is a bonafide black girl and I love her design as much as Streets of Rage 4's Cherry.
This wasn't the only trailer we got because right after Kimberly they also revealed Juri. Like Kimberly, Juri was also leaked in the starting roster, but it was still exciting none the same. Juri is sporting a new look that is still very much Juri. In her gameplay she resembles a lot of her Street Fighter V version maintaining the strike moves she got from storage. She seems to not have projectiles this time around which saddens me, but her dive kick from Street Fighter IV is back. Juri was one of my favorite characters from Street Fighter IV, right behind C. Viper so I was disappointed how drastically she was changed with V and she still looks to be the relatively the same in 6. I hope I will be able to use her in this game as I just love her aesthetic and I am eager to have her as one of my mains again. I will definitely be using Kimberly and I still have my eyes on Chun-Li, someone else I've also had issues playing in the past, but yeah Street Fighter 6 is looking good and this was probably the last time we'll ever see Street Fighter V at the EVO stage.
