My Otakon 2025 Experience

Image
This year I went to Otakon 2025 which took place from August 8-10. Otakon is a Japanese culture convention held in Washington D.C. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. This was my third year attending Otakon. I attended last year in 2024 and my first year was in 2021. As mentioned Otakon is a Japanese culture convention as implied from the name of the convention Otakon is a combination of the words otaku and convention. Though it centers around Japanese culture the emphasis on the con is more centered on anime. That may be a result of the community as anime has gotten way more popular since the con's inception in the 90s. Otakon offers events like traditional Japanese dance and music performances, idol performances, a manga library, panels focusing on anime, traveling to Japan, video rooms where you can watch anime, a vendor's hall and artist alley, and so much more. While I was looking forward to Otakon I was a bit hesitant. My experience with Otakon 2021 was po...

Superman (2025) Review

Image
So the first film of Warner Bros. new DCU is out and is it any good? I think so. When Superman was first announced James Gunn announced that getting Superman right was important to him so her personally took on the task of writing and directing this film. The result of this I liked overall but it also came with some flaws. Let's dive into it and as a heads up I will be marking a separate section for spoilers so just look out for large bold spoiler warnings, but here are my overall thoughts. This iteration of Superman is bringing back the fun and color of live-action Superman movies. The DCEU version of Superman was in muted and dark colors starting from Man of Steel to Justice League and with a more serious tone. This version of Superman is more colorful and full of hope. This is shown through a brighter color palette and the personality and tone of Superman. David Corenswet plays the titular character and he might be my favorite live-action depiction. It's hard to say for s...

Dragon Con 2024 Review

Image
Dragon Con 2024  Aug 29- Sep 2 So this was my first Dragon Con and my first Atlanta con. Dragon Con is the third largest con in the world and you can definitely tell. Dragon Con uses five hotels and two other buildings so that's seven buildings in total. Now not all seven of these buildings are for like panels and main event stuff. The Courtyard Marriot hotel is just for picking up your badge. The Westin has panels and a couple parties in there. From what I remember this is where most of the gaming and horror related panels were held, but whenever I went in this building it was never crowded. It's very easy to forget it's there. The Hilton, the Marriot Marquis, and the Hyatt Regency are where majority of the crowds are. The Hilton has panels like all of the buildings, but they're most known for hosting most of the fan photoshoots. On the bottom level of the Hilton there are two outdoor patio levels. They have these huge staircases and that's where the cosplay meet...

Persona 3 Reload Review

Image
So at the time I started writing this article I finished Persona 3 Reload just a week ago. It's been on my mind every day since and for good reason. It is a very fine video game, but it isn't without its flaws. Now to start off let me give you a brief history of my experience with the Persona series. Persona 3 FES was actually my first entry. It was the last game I ever bought for my PlayStation 2, but unfortunately one day I woke up and went to turn on my PS2, but it wouldn't turn on with the FES disc still inside. I don't think my PS2 could get fixed so instead I bought a PS3 later that year. I wanted to play FES so badly as the little I remembered playing was fun. I especially liked building up social stats and hanging out with people, but there wasn't a way for me to play it on my PS3 so I never ended up finishing that run. I didn't get my first real Persona playthrough until I decided to buy Persona 5 on a whim in 2019 and oh man I was so upset I took s...
